Obituary

Angela (Pilgermayer) Kenney, born September 18, 1948 to William and Elizabeth Pilgermayer, passed away October 19, 2021 in Reading Hospital. She was 73 years old.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Kate Kenney, her sons William J Kenney III and Patrick Kenney, her daughters in law Jessica (Derr) Kenney and Joan (Staples) Kenney, and 4 grandchildren Meara Kenney, Liam Kenney, Cara Kenney, and Margaret Kenney.  She is also survived by her brother Michael Pilgermayer and large extended family.

Angela was married to William J. Kenney Jr (deceased 2002) for many years and was a stay-at-home mother for until her 3 children were older. She began a long career working in Human Resources for the Vanguard Group followed by Weichert Relocation and Comcast prior to her retirement.

She loved spending time with her extended family regularly meeting at her parent’s or in law’s house for huge family holidays and celebrations or vacationing in the Outer Banks, NC with her family and friends. She loved going to the movies and out to eat with her family and generally loved spending quality time in the company of or conversing with her friends and family.

She was an avid fan of theater and was cast in dozens of roles throughout her stage career.  Her favorite and most memorable role was Mama Rose in Gypsy where she played opposite her daughter in the role of Baby June at Forge Theater. She always looked back at her time in theater as some of the best years of her life.

Angela has always stated that the greatest accomplishment in her life were her children and grandchildren. Even as her health declined later in life she always beamed with pride when discussing her family. She had an amazing and at times inappropriate sense of humor which was passed down through her children and grandchildren. She could make a stranger in a store laugh with a quip or comment and her sense of humor, laugh, and kindness are always mentioned first. She was a fun, loving, caring, and sweet woman and she will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

She died surrounded by her children and eldest granddaughter at Reading Hospital.

We will be holding a viewing where family and friends can pay their respects on November 3rd between 5-7 at Greater Philadelphia Center for Spiritual Living – 16 Industrial Blvd. Suite 212, Paoli, PA.

Additionally, we will be holding a celebration of life with friends and family sometime in spring of 2022 date TBD as were her final wishes.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you donate to the Salvation Army in Boyertown - 409 S. Reading Ave. Boyertown, PA 19512. pa.salvationarmy.org/boyertown
