Donald L. Fryberger

Donald L. Fryberger, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026. We take comfort in imagining Donnie once again doing what he loved most - riding his bicycle freely, now through the streets of Heaven, just as he did through his beloved town of Columbia.

Known affectionately as Uncle Donnie to his family, Mr. Donnie to generations of children at Mennonite Church Sunday School and Wonder Club, and Coach to many who shared mornings with him over breakfast at Hinkle’s before his stroke in 2014, Donnie had a special way of connecting with everyone he met. His kindness, humor, and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He was a devoted fan of Philadelphia sports, passionately cheering on the Eagles and the Phillies, and he found joy in the simple routines of everyday life—especially the relationships he built along the way.

Donnie will forever be remembered with love by his brothers, Ronald, Gardiner, and Jack, and his sister, Jane Salvatore, along with many cherished nieces and nephews who will carry his memory in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter U. and Nancy (Murr) Fryberger, and his siblings, Mary Lou, Walter L., Arthur, and Richard.

Donnie’s life was one of quiet impact, steady kindness, and genuine connection. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

A private interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery where he will forever rest in peace beside his mother.  In lieu of flowers or cards, the family kindly asks that you honor Donnie’s memory by performing an act of kindness.
