Thomas Benway, 74, of Bowmansville, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 17, 2026.
He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, big brother, and friend. Thom was the
oldest son of the late Charles and Muriel Benway. He will be deeply missed.
Thom married the love of his life and best friend, Debbie, in 1975. He was an energetic
and enthusiastic math teacher, softball coach, and school sports announcer at Twin
Valley High School. After retiring from his teaching career Thom and Debbie traveled
the world on trips lead by their life-long friend Diane, making memories crossing the
Panama Canal, experiencing Oktoberfest in Germany, and feeding wild monkeys in
Costa Rica.
Thom spent time each week with his children and grandchildren playing trivia. His love
of history, science, literature, and sports (especially the Boston Red Sox) helped his
family trivia team, “The Fighting Mongooses,” achieve frequent wins. He also enjoyed
regular game nights playing pinochle with his longtime friends Butch and Dave.
Thom was also passionate about his faith and remained very active with his spiritual
family at Pine Grove Church.
He loved to laugh and lived a life full of love, joy, and adventure.
Thom is survived by his wife Debbie Benway; his children Krista, Tanya, and Charlie;
and his grandchildren Anastasia, Arabella, Aaron, and Asher. Thom is also survived by
his siblings Bruce Benway, Jan Shultz, Don Benway, Steve Benway, and in-laws Craig
and Linda Coble, and all of their families.
