Kevin Painter Obituary

Kevin Allen Painter, known affectionately as Kevin to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, at his birthplace in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Born on September 21, 1957, to the late Kenneth K. Painter Senior and Margaret Painter/Hoelle, Kevin was a lifelong resident of Reading and a cherished member of the local community. He was 66 years old.  Kevin was a proud graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School and soon after, he honed his craft as a skilled carpenter. His hands were rarely still, as Kevin found joy and purpose in creating and fixing things, a testament to his handy nature. His work not only provided for his family but also brought beauty and functionality into the homes of many. His dedication to his trade was matched by his involvement in various associations where he shared his expertise and passion for carpentry with others.  A man of many interests, Kevin took great pleasure in woodworking, an extension of his professional life.  His creations were not just objects but pieces of art that displayed his attention to detail and his love for the craft. Outside of work, Kevin was known to enjoy the occasional drink with friends, where his humor shone brightly, often lighting up the room with laughter. He also found excitement in gambling, a hobby that brought him both thrill and camaraderie.  Kevin's personality was as multifaceted as his talents. Those who knew him would describe him as funny, friendly, and exceptionally handy. His ability to tell a joke, lend a helping hand, or simply be a good friend made him a beloved figure in his community and beyond

Family was the cornerstone of Kevin's life. He is survived by his son, Kyle A. Painter, who was the pride and joy of his life.  Kevin also leaves behind his big brother, Kenneth K. Painter Junior, and brothers Perry L. Painter and Rodney G. Painter. His little sister, Heidy Coldren, along with their families, will hold dear the memory of Kevin's spirited presence.

He was predeceased by his sister Holly Heilman, but the bond they shared continues to live on in the hearts of those who knew them.  Kevin's battle with cancer was fought with the same resilience and quiet strength that characterized his life.

As we bid farewell to Kevin Allen Painter, we are reminded of the impact one individual can have on the lives of many. His legacy is one of love, craftsmanship, and friendship, and while he will be deeply missed, the memories he has created will forever be a source of joy and inspiration.

Rest in peace, Kevin. Your spirit will continue to guide us, your laughter will echo in our stories, and your craftsmanship will remain a part of our homes and our hearts.
