Michael Vellinga, 63, of Denver, PA, formerly of Neptune, NJ, died May 17, 2020 at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital in Ephrata, PA. Mike served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1973-1977. After his service he began his career as a tree surgeon. He loved growing up on the farm on Old Corlies Ave in Neptune which enhanced his love for the outdoors and fishing as well as collecting and shooting guns. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, made Eagle Scout, and was awarded the Order of the Arrow. He is Predeceased by his wife Carole, and his parents Ronald and Eileen Vellinga. Surviving are his brothers, Keith (and wife Ann) Vellinga of Newark, DE and Christopher (and wife Cindy) Vellinga of Brick, NJ; his sister-in-law Janice Hendricks of Denver, PA; and his cousin George (and wife Margaret) Dabney of Columbia, MD. Per Mike's wishes, in lieu of flowers a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516, or another veterans charity, is appreciated. Services will be private due to Covid-19.
